This Sunday is the celebration of Communion.
Please come to worship with bread and juice for all who are gathered in your space. Any type of juice will be okay.
As we join together in worship we acknowledge that we live on Turtle island, land that creator brought out of the waters so all could have life. Turtle island is the traditional territory of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, and Dakota peoples, and the homeland of the Metis Nation.
MV 189 Jesu tawa pano
Jesu tawa pano, Jesu tawa pano,
Jesu tawa pano, tawa pano mu zita renyu
Jesus we are here, Jesus we are here
Jesus we are here, we are here for you.
The river is here
Down the mountain the river flows
And it brings refreshing wherever it goes
Through the valleys and over the fields
The river is rushing and the river is here
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing
The river of God fills our hearts with cheer
The river of God fills our mouths with laughter
And we rejoice for the river is here
The river of God is teeming with life
And all who touch it can be revived
And those who linger on this river’s shore
Will come back thirsting for more of the Lord
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing
Up to the mountain we love to go
To find the presence of the Lord
Along the banks of the river we run
We dance with laughter
Giving praise to the Son
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing
Welcome and Community News
Singing: MV 172 God Says
- God says “Be still so you may hear the words
I whisper in your ear. If you will listen,
You will know I’m with you always where you go.”
- God say, “Look up and see the prize
I’ve placed here right before your eyes.
Find beauty in the things of earth,
A cause for wonder and rebirth.”
- God says, “Come here! I need your voice.
Please teach my people to rejoice.
In who you are, in what you do,
Your life will show my love for you.”
- God says, “Reach out! The world’s in need
And wants a word, A song, a deed.
I send you forth to speak, to sing,
to act for Christ in everything.”
Opening Prayer (Unison)
Holy Trinity: Creator, Immanuel, Spirit,
your relational authority is not force, coercion or dominance.
Your communal authority lives in sharing.
Your connectional strength is serving.
Create in us.
Be embodied in us.
Inspire us.
The world needs faith, hope and love.
For this we pray in the name of our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.
Amen. (Adapted for use from Ted Dodd)
Singing: MV 212 Sent out in Jesus name
Sent out in Jesus’ name, our hands are ready now
To make the world a place in which the kingdom comes. [x2]
The angels cannot change a world of hurt and pain
Into a world of love, of justice and of peace.
The task is ours to do, to set it really free.
O help us to obey, and carry out your will.
Enviado soy de Dios, mi mano lista esta
Para construir con El un mundo fraternal [x2]
Los Ángeles no son enviados a cambiar
Un mundo de dolor por un mundo de paz
Me ha tocado a mi hacerlo realidad
Ayúdame, Señor, a hacer tu voluntad

Children’s Time:
Disciple’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Offering:
The ministry and mission of Knox continues, even when the building is closed. God’s love and concern for those who are struggling is shared. You make it possible to carry this message to everyone. If you normally give when you are in worship, we encourage you to continue your regular donations through Canada Helps. The link is here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/107576134RR0001-knox-united-church/ All donations made will be forwarded to Knox Winnipeg. Or, if you have envelopes, you could put your offering in an envelope each Sunday and bring them with you when we get back to in person worship. Thank you for your generosity in these times of trouble.
Singing: VU 512 Lord, you give the great commission
- Lord, you give the great commission
Heal the sick and preach the word
Lest the church neglect its mission,
and the gospel go unheard,
Help us witness to your purpose
with renewed integrity,
With the Sprit’s gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
- Lord, you make the common holy
This my body, this my blood
Let us all, for earth’s true glory,
Daily lift life heavenward,
asking that the world around us
share your children’s liberty,
With the Sprit’s gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
- Lord, you bless with words assuring
I am with you to the end
Faith and hope and love restoring,
May we serve as you intend
and amid the cares that claim us
hold in mind eternity
With the Sprit’s gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
Communion Prayer
God is with us!
We are not alone!
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
God seeks to be in communion with us, and wills that we be in communion with one another…..And so we rejoice proclaiming the glory of Christ’s name, saying:
Holy, holy, holy are you.
Holy, holy, blessed are you.
Reminding us of this union of body and spirit, Jesus took a loaf of bread….Through the broken bread, we participate in and become the body of Christ in the world.
In like manner, Jesus took the cup filled with the fruit of the vine….Through the cup of blessing, we participate in and become the new life of Christ in the world.
The bread and cup we partake nourishes us that we may nourish others. Through this sacrament of Holy Communion, we affirm that we are committed to Christ’s way of love, peace and right relationship with one another and with God. What we symbolize here in this holy space, we make real by our service when we go forth from this place.
Breaking the Bread, Pouring the Cup
The body of Christ,
the bread of life.
The lifeblood of Christ,
the cup of blessing.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
Thanks be to God!
Singing: MV 202 Bread for the journey
Bread for the journey,
Food for the way.
Cup of God’s blessing,
Tomorrow, today.

Community Prayer:
Singing: VU 481 Sent forth by God’s blessing
- Sent forth by God’s blessing, out true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The supper is ended, O now be extended
the fruits of this service in all who believe.
The seed of Christ’s teaching, receptive souls reaching,
Shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, God’s love shall unite us
to work for the kingdom and answer its call.
- With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living,
The tasks of our everyday life we will face.
Our faith every sharing, in love ever caring,
embracing God’s children of each tribe and race.
With your feast you feed us, with your light now lead us,
unite us as one in this life that we share.
Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving
give honour to Christ and the name that we bear.
Blessing
